Asda had 15 PS3, 60 for the 360 .... got there JUST in time!
I got mine too :excited:,
I got a right bargain mine only cost me £33.30 (staff discount :D!!!)
There was literally more than 100 people and it was kicking off just has me and my mate left :eek:.
It's unfair to see people playing it already :cry:

Well nige I paid a whole 70p more than you ... but judging by todays petrol prices I most probably saved more than that as I walked.
Oh and guys ... the game is amazing ... did the first 'mission' ... then went for a wander ... it's not a game ... it's a WORLD!

Ill have to wait another day to get it, The post woman hasnt brought it yet, and i doubt she will come today if the doesnt arrive in 20mins, as as soon as it hits 12 the french have a 2hour dinner!
got mine now, and its just a great game, can see many more hours lost on this game, its different in some repects to the last games in the series but change isn't a bad thing in this case

Oh man I just stole a car from someone and he tried to grab it back and got hit hand stuck in the door and wouldn't let go for ages. He eventually fell off and rolled into 2 people sending them flying!!
Then I just watched an ambulance drive upto a crook a cop shot revive him then the cop shot him again. lol
I also have to say I really like the harsher punishments now for killing people, makes a lot of moral choices whether you should or not.
OMG I just watched the TV and there was an advert for the Patriot 500 at the Motorspeedway where it said watch Rednecks Live. "Yes that's right watch Rednecks drive round in a circle 500 times !!".

if you want some more goodies from when I was playing in the early hours
I saw a cop running after some bloke down the street!
Also I ran into some woman carrying a big bag of shopping ... and the shopping went everywhere ... how cool?
Oh and I love the fact you can switch the beam on your headlights !!!!!
might be on at 10ish tonight ... depends if I'm out ... but there is the free roam night tomorrow ... and I really fancy doing some missions ... oh and trying out the darts and bowling

Would you very lucky people mind answering a few questions:
- How are the Graphics?
- Is the car spawning system alot better, instead of most cars being the same, then one new car comes and then there all the same as that etc.
When is it possible to get in a helicoptor?

Man, me and my mate got their around 11:25 and waited for what seemed an eternity.
Seriously though was their 'chavs' outside waiting for people to walk out of ASDA by you because there were around here and me and my mate heard this one group say that if they didn't get a copy they were gonna beat someone up for it on the way out :eek: !!!
I'm surprised at the price I just presumed that because it was £37 at my store it would be £37 everywhere else :eek:.
Anyway who cares lets just enjoy the greatest game to ever grace the 360 (apart from Hockey games ofcourse :D !!!)
One of the best gaming moments ever, driving a Bus with a swarm police chasing to Queens One Vision. lol Classic!

:( I was gonna get mine after SATs but I can't wait anymore, i'll go get it on Saturday.
I got it bang on 10am when lakeside woolies opened then took it home (didnt want to leave it in the van all day) then went back to work. Now I'm getting ready to go out to see Dara O'Brian. Might get on it when I get back but its looking more like tomorrow night.

well multiplayer free roam tomorrow night should be good ... as i said earlier ... only played it for 30mins last night ... looks like i might be in tonight now ... but most probs still do some missions/exploring
looking forward to a group of us just exploring, driving and blowing things up ... can't wait to try out reeal simple things like going for a ride in a car while a mate is driving!!!!!!
You're right Hybrid I never even thought about that last thing!
BTW this game just keeps on amazing me and I'll be doing the single player for a wee while longer but one thing I thought was funny but also kinda of horrible was if you smash into someone in an (old) car they might smash headfirst in the steering wheel and just lay on the horn dead. Secondly I love that you can call the emergency service when you want and in fact if you're low on health, call an Ambulance and they'll heal you for a price. :D I wonder if you could call the Police in on a drug deal or something? :)
Not going to touch the online until I've explored a good bit of the city yet.
Question? How do you get the hail the cab whistle and also can you like you coould in previous GTA's be a cab driver and pick up fares and stuff? Cheers !
I'm just hoping I get an early knock from work tomorrow so I can go exploring before I go online.
BTW I have the official guide book by bradygames aswell if anyone gets stuck. But I wont be reading past the current mission I'm on as I dont want to spoil the story. (If you do take up this offer PM me so we prevent spoilers)

Yeah I was in the Bowling Alley last night (this morning !) and Genesis was on and I was like wow :D !!!
This game has got quite a good soundtack although I really listen to JNR (the Jazz station !!) :D.
Its got a nice mix of modern songs and classic songs :D !!!
Im going to cry.... why didn't I preorder!
I didn't pre-order MC mate, I just went down took some games that I'll hardly play again and paid the rest. Worked out great as buying GTA IV got me £10 quid of the Wireless controller also!! :D

I just did a bit of online free roam and stole a helicopter, it was so cool but then i clipped the side of a sky scraper and the rotors fell off and the rest of the heli just fell to the ground and exploded upon impact :):)

I just did the Uncle Vlad mission and I have to say I was glad it worked out that way. I'm now watching some TV. lol It's some mad cartoon with a talking Pink Whale, ah it just said the name now; Republican Space Rangers.

i watched the live feeds pre-release and the game does look amazing.
as im sure i have said MANY times, i have a DT project for thursday and i want ZERO distraction, so i'm not getting the game till next monday, which conveniently is both a bank holiday, and the day i get a £60 payment of E.M.A.
Im probably gonna go to teh shops, i look older than i am, and have bought solvents and alcohol in the past.
Apparently game are a bugger for ID, so i'll try either woolies or gamestation, failing that mum can take a trip to asda for me :p

I have done Uncle Vald mission, and around 4 or 5 others after that, it just seems like I am never gonna get to the second island :(.

You can get there on multiplayer anyway ... me khevo, fizz and Benson were having a great laugh in Helos and Boats (lots of innuendo about Tugs!)
And at this rate the only time I'm going to be doing the story stuff is Saturday and Sunday mornings when no one else is on

Online is great Fun!
love the attention to detail, the way the smoke builds up when doing a burnout and then eventually Poping :D when you fire a rocket launcher into the sea and a big splash of water rises when it explodes :D

yeah the attention to detail is going to be surprising me for a long time
last night it was my first time online and so first time in a Helo and also over to the over islands
the thing that got me was the spray effect when you hover the helo low over the water ... just class
oh and I think the water is pretty good in itself ... even just the wash off the front of the boats is great
yeah i think now single player is for when nobody else is around, this game has needed online multiplayer for a long time, just a shame you can't do the little mini games online either, but on another GTA dedicated forum there is a big thing going on about it, so maybe if rockstar listen, could be a future patch

Another great thing about the Game: was walking around last night, decided to take a random shot and blow someone's face off in their car, the blood went all over the windshield and their head hit the Horn, keeping the horn on until I shot the car :P
Yeah I got that with a headon smash, not the blood on the window but the head on the horn. Today I was amazed to see someone on the side of the road looking under the bonnet/hood of their car as it was smoking. lol
i found some body trying to fix the bus, so i stood there, waited for them to fix it, then shot them, then drove off :P
Im in a mission now which is pretty cool.
Destruction for beginners. You get tons of ammo and you can have tons of fun :D
I'm at the second house now, kind of annoyed that I did that thing for the guy and it turned out that way.

Yeah i noticed that aswell! Have you guys driven a Banshee yet?
It gives backfire! :D And when you drive the Sabre (Not the GT) you will notice it's old, because of all the black smoke coming out the exhaust :D

I just love taking a Taxi throwing the cinematic cam and just listening to the music and the driver yakking away. Make sure to Rush him though or you'll never get anywhere. lol
This game is so beautiful. It actually annoys me, when someone calls me and has a mission for me. I just want to explore. Been doing the Subway thing a bit, cruising in my Flexter (Or however it's called.) Stole it as the first criminal thing I did. Got chased by the police and ended up denting it pretty badly. Drove it through the Pay'n'Spray only to loose it, because I took a mission in it. Drives like a dream though. Banshee is faster, but not as much grip on that one.
Last night, when I went to bed, I had saved two cars outside Romans apartment. A Banshee and a Policecar. Dunno if they are both there, when I log on tonight. But they drive pretty well, compared to that piece of junk Roman cabs people around in.
This game by far outclasses the previous ones. The attention to detail, the graphics, the soundtrack... everything is awesome. I completed every game since GTA III more than once, and this will keep me entertained for months. (Anybody wanna fill in for me at work)
I also jacked a car off someone, only to have them grip the door as it slams and then getting hauled through the city, till I sideswiped some poor guy in a car and the unfortunate fellow finally released his grip. ;)
I find it interesting, that you get to choose to let certain people live or die. Wonder how it will influence the game. I decided to act how I would act, if it was the real world, and not just kill people just for fun. So I let Ivan live, because Vlad is a tool. How do you make your decisions?

Well, till now i killed them all. The only person i did not kill was Duane's ex-girlfriend. I just kill them because in my opinion you have to be loyal to the family :)

Baxie - just go to your mobile and turn on 'Sleep Mode' which suspends the story and leaves you free to roam.
Diablo - can we please have a GTA IV Section or at least a GTA IV Missions discussion thread as I was reading this for general comments about the nice touches etc but now know about missions I haven't got to yet ... having only done about 4 missions so far!
Fun with a Cab!
Whistle a cab on one of the other islands where to access your destination you need to pass through the toll and get the guy to 'Hurry' by pressing 'X' (360) and watch in Cinematic mode and when he crashes through the toll you'll have a police chase that's worth watching, just make sure if he gets boxed in or rolls it you bail quickly. :D

I just had a very very weird glitch when playing Pool. When it's your opponenets shot keep pressing A to skip it and if you do it right the camera will jump into another building that hasn't loaded and show nothing yet you still play pool????

AcquiredDamn I never knew about that one, in fact I don't really bother with achievements but that's a nice one to have, I can usually do well against a chase though that damn chopper always gets a lucky potshot at me usually.

@ Diablo: What i did:
I took a helicopter at island 2. Then i flew over island 3. I flew back to the Statue of Happiness and hided there. Cops won't come :p
I also had a very long chase with 5 stars on the first day i got the game. I couldn't lose them so i just killed myself :o

Damn, i want this game :D. Shame PS3 doesn't have achievements though, i'd like a gamerscore and GTAIV achievements :D. Am thinking about getting a 360 though, but i don't know if it's worth it as i would only play Final Fantasy XI, Forza 2, TDU (maybe), Left 4 Dead (when it comes out) and **** 3.

First thing I noticed about the video, when you enter the car, still the same set up he slams opent he car door, not a casual slow opening :D Love it! Damn watching this video makes me want to play it so badly! But I can't stop looking! Damn your video DiablO!

And to be honest it's not the violence that would stop me letting kids play this but the language, everything is used in this game and I mean everything. You hear it when out on the street, standing still, in missions, in the taxi, basically all over. The violence isn't that much and frankly it's as violent as YOU make it. You can shoot everything that moves but unlike previous GTA's, the police etc will not be easy to escape if you do as they are very ruthless and when SWAT and beyond arrive they are accurate and constant and will take you out.
Remember there is prostitutes, drinking, drugs, guns, killing etc so this game is not for the young uns, sure you can say that you won't be bothered by it and last time I checked despite the 10 years of GTA (man the first was great!) noone as far as I know has Rocket Launched a bus (though you can't lie and say you've never thought about it jokingly).
I would say 15 and up would be (hopefully) mature for it, and as for gore that's not the core component, the core aspect is that it is you playing as Niko that does all of the actions onscreen. Anyone who can't make the distinction between fantasy and reality has a screw loose anyway and would snap with a tv show (Dexter?), Movie (Clockwork Orange, Scarface etc?) so to say the game might make you a psycho is complete rubbish, but the content of the game does warrant the rating.

Your points are abundant, and you are correct in most cases. But I disagree with you about the priorities of denying your children a game over language, while allowing violence and gore.
I was playing yesterday, and I started thinking:
What on earth has things come to? We have a game, where there is swearing, striptease, blood, random violence and killing for fun, and whenever Niko takes his girl home after a date, they cut to the house while they are having sex. Alright. It's funny to hear her moan on and on about how Niko "tells her interesting things", but man...
Each and every one of us has had or will have sex a lot more times, than we will kill someone. (I hope.) And Niko is even treating her to a good time before taking her home.
But I digress.
The games many many questionable practices (Sex not being one of them) does warrant a warning. But I don't believe that it is enough to just say 15+. The parents of people at an impressionable age need to involve themselves and discuss the things.
The violence, the dirty language, the sexual content.
Language is everywhere, sex and killing also. You cannot protect your kids from this sort of thing, so instead you guide them. You let them ask you questions and you give them proper answers.
The solution to the worlds problems doesn't lie in bleeping out the sound and covering up Eminems mouth when he says a dirty word. But I will bet you, that your kid will gain a lot more from having an atmosphere that allows for questions about this sort of content.
Encourage your kids to come to you with questions and sit down with them and discuss the game while playing it. You'll see. If your kid is brought up right, he or she will show you that. On the other hand, if they sit there quietly drooling, and whispering something along the lines of "I wish I could do this to my teacher and that annoying boy down the road" you may want to take away the controller and get some serious help.... NOW!
But it works both ways. If there are some kids on these forums (I'm 32 and as such, allowed to call you kids) who aren't allowed to play the game, because their parents wont let them, here's an idea. Find a time, when your parents aren't too busy. Ask them to sit down with you. Then calmly explain that this game is out, which is defining in a lot of ways on how the computergames genre is developing. Tell them that you know the game is violent and has a lot of questionable content. And that you would rather sit down with them, and have them explain to you, what all the fuss is about, than sneak around to your friends, who has the game. Tell them, that you don't understand why the morals are set in a way, that allows for violence to be shown on TV, but not sex. Tell them that you would like for them to explain why the world works that way. Do it calmly and openly and don't just think of this as an easy way to get to play. If needed tell them, that you will only play with them in the beginning, till they are sure, that you know what you are experiencing.
Talk to you kids, don't just prohibit them from doing things. When I was a kid, the most exciting places to go, and things to do was where and what we were told not to.

My parents know about the sex, drugs and killing in the game, but they said: Well, if you want to play this, it's ok for us. I'm grown up enough to leave it as a game and not do this killing and drugs in real life. But, my parents also said that if i don't come to eat no-more as i'm to busy playing GTA, they are breaking the CD, and then i was like WTF!?
But they are quite right i believe. :) The first day i had the game i only went downstairs once.... :o

I've had these sort of conversations with my parents, and so did my brother when he lived at home. But my Dad won't have any of it. I'd like to feel I'm a lot more mature and understanding of the world than a lot of people who play these games, and yet I'm not allowed them. My Mum has no problem with it, and claims I'm 'old enough and ugly enough to understand this is irrelevant to real life and you can't go round shooting random people and not suffer the consequences'. While my Dad claims he feels the same way. But why can't I buy them? Who knows. It's one of the great mysteries in life :p
Having said that, I can't see the excitement in wondering around and shooting random people for the hell of it, but that could be because I've rarely played these games. And I'm not an avid gamer anyways, so I'm not actually that fussed *shrugs*
Guys don't do what I've been doing and shooting the little blue person icon people (they show on the map) as they are side missions not drug dealers like I thought. lol

In too all the questions pointed at me.
I'm 15, I've played Half-Life 1 since I was 7, Opposing Force since I was 8, Blue Shift since I was 10, GTA3 since I was 11 and brought GTA Vice City a few months later. I then brought San Andreas when I was 12.
I watched my first 15 at about 11. And I watched my first 18 at 13 (Scream at school on the last day!! :D) and I wasn't bothered. And then my parents let me watch Kill Bill and I was slightly repulsive but I watched it a few more times and just laughed.
My parents know all of this and yet they won't let me buy it because they think I will be hooked on it and they think its really violent. Yet they watch and play the above.
They are worried because now I laugh at Gore. If I watch Kill Bill its hilarious. If I watch Resident Evil I laugh. If I watch those weird gorey crime TV its even more hilarious.
So yeah, its sorta a no. its coming to the start of my GCSE's and my parents think I will be hooked on it so I won't get any revision done.

WOOOT! My copy has finally been dispatched!, thank god it was before bank holiday monday, it should arrive here thursday, it said 3-5 days, - sunday and monday.

Me too. Although I have got it. And I think that was a mistake, but I just have to ignore it to get on with revision. Stupid GCSEs! Also, very bad timing from Rockstar! :mad:
Been playing it over the last 24 hours (not constantly), and well... Single player is good. I like the characters, story and mission base etc. Online... Only really done a bit of freeroam and free for all and while it was fun, I was honestly bored after about an hour. The online to me, just doesn't seem as great as I had hoped. Not looking to start an argument, it's a fantastic game and I will continue to play it offline and on. Just not as much online as I had expected to.
