2010-07-20 : Problems solved, time to get back to business!

2009-11-10 : Due to recentering of my activities, I announce the end of actual Modding Tools publishing here. The adventure continues, but more likely towards french community (oahucars-unlimited). And with different goals.
Have fun with TDU, and can't wait TDU 2 too !

TDU Modding Tools

"TDU Modding Tools" is a handy Free package which allows Modders and End-Users :
- to provide a easier way to view and edit BNK files and their contents
- to convert .2DB [
DirectDraw Surface] to .DDS files (and .DDS to .2DB back). Its purpose is to allow texture modding (and future model conversion) to occur easily and efficiently.
- to install mod files easily on a 'check or dragndrop' fashion
- to tune your cars (brand, names, physics, colors...) but with some restrictions - always allowing to ride online safely
- to adjust driving cameras
- to view & edit database resource files
- to make installers and patches for your own mods.

Windows XP users, make sure you have MS .NetFramework 2.0 [SP2] installed [D'load here]

Magic bnk1.MAP


This modded file allows to add files of any size (including larger sizes).
!!IMPORTANT!!
Please make you sure you're using the correct magic map according to your TDU version.
If you own TDU Megapack, you wanna take the 1st one, magic-map.zip

New! this installer gives you a magic map, no matter which version you have (1.45a, 1.66a, megapack...) :

BLINGBLING MOD {paint any car @ PaintShop deluxe !}

Based on Kegetys' mod, which is discussed in this thread:

This version will make it possible for owners of 1.66 TDU without megapack.

WARNING: do not use this mod after installing TDU Community Patch 1.67 and newer !

To use downloaded file, you've just to extract it from zip, then replace existing DB.BNK file in your game ..\Euro\Bnk\Database folder. (make backups before !)

QUESTION!!!

Why is that when I downloaded the BNK file EDitor and the this File format converter a dialog box always appears and says " The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application"...


HELP!!!

Djey ... would it be possible to encorporate something similar to TDU_to_X as it doesn't work on any of my computers ... and they all have the .NetFrame work installed. It makes viewing what the .2db files are, much easier when you can convert all the .2dbs from a .bnk in one go!

Hi,

okay, you're right. Modding Tools is not able to convert a set of 2db files to dds. Once extracted they have to be dropped 1 by 1 into the converter ... which is really annoying.

Let me look for a solution in TDU Modding Tools 1.4 or 1.5 :
- either by giving a folder name into the converter (rather than one file name)
- or directly from the File Browser (a kind of "extract-then-convert" function)

Since 1.3, there's a file browser. If you've associated the dds file type with dxtbmp.exe, you may quickly view what texture hides behind each 2db file

Yay Then I can start modding the GPS if you do include multiple conversions .... as the GPS has 100 + files and I'm not converting them one-by-one just to find out the ones I want!

I was just making my mind about this point... I could add this new function to File Browser but it won't integrate well with other commands (since it should only affect 2db files...)

Another solution is to enhance 2DB to DDS converter so that it supports converting all files from a BNK (like Scrat-Petit Converter). And even from a directory.


A new GPS mod ? Cool.
I haven't tested the last GPS mod (by dc300m02) yet.
